An open call for mix-breeders

So, with some trepidation, I am announcing my second annual involvement in National Blog Posting Month. I will try to post once every day in the month to come.

My hope for this year is to find a bunch of other mix-breeders like Kyle and myself. I.e. I am hoping to meet other people who are romantically involved with partners who do not share their nationality. Something tells me there are plenty of laughs out there to be shared.

If you know a mix-breeder or you happen to be one yourself, please say hi!!!

I am cross-posting all entries at NaBloPoMo.

Well, not mixed in the same sense but my first wife's family (Polish Catholic from Erie) commented on our "mixed marriage" - because I wasn't Catholic...

Sheesh...

Hi! Long-time reader, first-time commenter.

I'm a Muslim Iranian-American, he's an Agnostic Italian-American. Oh the hoops we get to jump through - but we have a good sense of humor about it. ;)

i'm glad you shared that because as much as a write about multi-national marriage, what i really hope i am conveying is that everyone has their own 'mixin' to deal with. and that's good and it's sweet and it's funny. and we should be able to talk and laugh about it.

Hello

What a cute post!

back in high-school in Sofia i used to think that if i ever married a non-bulgarian or even someone not from Sofia, there would be something that had gone terribly wrong with my life.
Not sure why i thought that,
but yes, now i am a mix-breeder too and have two lovely little muts!
and by the way my hubby and i crack ourselves up with your posts all the time. he wanted to hug you for your "draft" post.

Once again me here:)
So he is Czech and I am Bulgarian and we speak English coz if I would try to express myself in Czech it will take ages and might cause me nervous breakdown (poor knowledge of Czech language is the reason).Given the fact that English isn't our mother tongue sometimes we end up caught in a language barrier...
So we end up fighting about something even though we share the same opinion:))
The other thing (might be off topic, sorry for that) is the attitude people have about mixed couples...The mother of my boyfriends ex-flatmate was convinced I am with him coz I want a Czech passport...oh well another reason to make me thing that being smart and age don't have anything to do with each other
:D

Thank you so so much for your note!!! I very much look forward to reading your blog! Where is your husband from? Are you guys in Bulgaria now?

neonlicht:
And thank YOU for sharing your story!!! Language misunderstandings are the most frustrating, I think. But also, a blessing in disguise... If nothing, they make for awesome bar-stories. My personal favorite thing to observe is conversations between my parents and Kyle. They speak a tiny bit of English and he speaks just a little bit of Bulgarian. I'm sure you can fill in the blanks yourself.

Daniel:
I am SO glad you started blogging!!!

Is there a blog behind your profile?

Hey there, great to see new posts on your English-language blogs :-D I would read the BG one too, if only I could :-( In any case, I'm adding to the long list of mix-breeders: I'm Romanian and my boyfriend is German and although this may not sound very exotic, we do have our clashes and laughs/tears every now and then :-)

we are in LA
my hubby has eastern-european roots slovenian.. austrian.., 3 generations old though, so it doesn't count, he is as american as they get. a total sweetheart.
i have a tiny baby boy and a 5-year-old tornado girl named Emma Sofia who gets offended when she is told she is only half Bulgarian. she wants to be 100%, she insists on telling people she was born in Sofia eventhough she knows she was born in Santa Monica, CA.

Hey there!
We like your blog very much! We - not married couple yet, living in Bonn, Germany. He is German-Italian, me - Bulgarian. This is a really funny mix of differences and similarities :) The most of our friends are also multi- national couples (Poland, Venezuela, Ghana, Russia, Kuba, France, USA und Bulgaria) and the times we have together are so great ;)
